Agreed.  

The pilot-link developers didn't help matters by having a 1+ year wait
between the prereleases and the final version (now) and by virtually
refusing to diagnose/fix bugs because of the use of the preX versions
(though, imo, that's exactly what pre-release versions are for, fixing
bugs!).
