I didn't say anything about evince, evince sucks too. I can give you pdfs
that xpdf takes a week to render and kdpf renders correctly in 2 seconds.

Evince/xpdf/gimp and also print (but not view) in kpdf all mess up pdf files
which contain images with transparent backgrounds for one, so no suprises.
