Recent kernels and dmraid?

I have not been able to get any recent (2.6.17+ based) kernel to boot
with dmraid.  Adding echos to the initrd init script, it stops at "dm
partadd".  The system doesn't hang (the normal magic keys still work),
but it never progresses in the boot.  If I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL it reboots.

Is anyone else booting successfully with dmraid?
