Perl, right?  5.00504, because it came out before 5.6. However, it seems
to be broken in terms of version number rules -- which is why they
switched to 5.6.  5.00504 was essentially 5.5 patch 4.

You may look around the perl archives for perl's version number
comparison stuff to see how they handled it.
