kde4 status?

Note: I'm not a KDE user, nor am I planning to become one (not that I dislike 
KDE, Ím just happy with GNOME). I've been known to do some heavy lifting 
though, and since kde4 would be an uber cool feature, I'm willing to help, can 
you define heavy lifting a bit more?
