Yes, one of the most requested items we got after 5.0 was "Could you
make it so passwords were not needed for root default?" this later
morphed into "Please make it so that anyone can run anything by
default" ... and the routine that someone wanted us to have so that if
you pinged a port it would reset all the passwords on the system.
