I use $LOCALDOMAIN most often with tools such as ssh, telnet, netcat,
Firefox, and traceroute, and it works fine. Odd that ping, host, and
their friends don't acknowledge it, maybe the _res.options values used
by those programs is the problem? (Or is there more than one resolver
library?)
