Is there a more general alternative to this? rpm does not support installation 
by an unprivileged user afaik. And this is what all custom packages systems 
that come to my mind allow (Perl/Cpan, ruby/gems, Haskell/Cabal, 
Firefox/Thunderbird/XPI).
