As a stop-gap measure we might even 1) patch gnome-vfs to show the
volumes anyway; and 2) patch gnome-mount's error dialog on catching the
org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.PermissionDenied exception to point to
said FAQ. 

These would be Fedora specific patches but that's fine as it just puts
more pressure on upstream (me!) to finally fix this. Technically this is
a bug-fix, not a new feature so I guess that would be good. Patches
welcome :-)
