And you went ahead and did it anyway?  "I'll do it anyway" flippancy 
especially from long time contributors is not going to encourage ex-Core 
package maintainers to want to add others to the ACL/co-maintainers 
lists for the packages they own.  Than should retain a certain level of 
respect and I support his decision in this case.
