The same for me. Athlon 64, nForce430 chipset, ATA HDD.
Kernel bug appears only on smartd startup. But smartd seems to be 
working just fine.
kernel-2.6.21-1.3189 also has this issue (can't confirm for 3175). 3163 
work fine.
