Severe X breakage heads up

  In my case the driver sis was not present, so I have reset to vesa according

  Vesa does not work because my monitor warns "Attention, Out of range, 
H:89.6KHz V:59.7Hz". To regain the control of the screen I have to kill X.

  I have removed the horizontal and vertical ranges from the configuration 
file to allow DDC probing and the result is the same.

  Attached I send the log and lspci output.

This is the same monitor that I have filled a bugzilla recently because it did 
not allowed anymore the 1280*1024 resolution that used to allow until some 
weeks ago.
