Core 2 Duo not fast enough for Mplayer?

If it's any help, I am seeing the same. mplayer stutters on videos
it was able to play fine two weeks ago. vlc and xine work.

No pulseaudio, no compiz, alsa audio, xv video, rawhide as of yesterday.

Maybe an mplayer bug.
