When you just try a livecd, and want to be able to used a couple of
tools from it to make the full install in the first place (createrepo
in particular)? You realize you cannot even use a static ip when
running the livecd, right? NM shoots any configuration you try to
make through the standard GUI tool that's in the system menu.

static ip != server. The desktop/server distinction is silly at best,
too. I have mediawiki/apache running on my laptop - it's what I like
writing my notes into. And I ssh *into* it on a regular basis.
