He being one of the few is not true.

A lot of project are out there which sole
purpose is to put old working hardware back to use.

Giving a bunch of fedora cd's to those projects
( xfce,  older version  anaconda maybe )
would probably even server greater purpose than handing out
cd's/dvd's/usb keys on some  conference/convention somewhere....
