initrd explosion?

What's happened to the initrd image in rawhide?
The last version I checked was only 8+ MB

Everything else seems in line, it's just initrd that seems
a bit excessive. n.b. this system runs on my big boxes, but fails
to even start on my 192MB ThinkPad :-(
