do you use desktop metasearch ?

I find all such things useless unless:

1) They are completely cross-desktop (ideally I'd get a command-line
   tool and some way to query over the web as well)

2) They run on the file server, not on the desktop.

3) They're sufficiently performant that I can run them across
   terabytes of data.
