error encountered with yum

hi !
 I was doing a yum --installroot=/path/to/directory groupinstall Base
  which was usppose to create a basic fedora system from scratch under
that directory .All went fine except that I got this error a lot of
times
/var/lib/yum/transaction-done    could not open no such file or directory
and it failed to install devices under /dev , procinfo and /etc/fstab .

why is it so ..what i am missing here
