[user at host ~]$ ls -l /var/log/boot.log
-rw------- 1 root root 0 2008-05-11 04:31 /var/log/boot.log

Why don't we start making use of boot.log... If the regular output is hidden, then
just redirect it to boot.log and if something does happen to go wrong, we can have
a notification in the GUI like we do for gnome-power-manager now.
