So, as I asked in the bug report, are you using the "multi" libasound
plugin for your soundcard? (find out with the -v switch from aplay.)
Also, have you touched default.pa or the other config files in any way?

This is just a followup on the first item.  the gst module tries to
signal the error condition to gst. Fun thing is, gst locks up when
doing this due to a deadlock. Apparently some of the methods of a gst
are not allowed to signal any error conditions. I pinged the GST
people, but never got a response from them whether this
should be fixed in GST or in gst-pulse. I'll try to ping them again.

There's a bug on bz.g.o about this.

Is it really that cryptic? It says exactly what happened: the
connection to the sound server is lost.

Ah, great, closed source software. That's where I especially like to fix

This is one bug, not 5.
