fedora-release: What is system-release-cpe?

The F9 fedora-release has a new file:

echo "cpe://o:fedora_project:fedora:%{version}" >
$RPM_BUILD_ROOT/etc/system-release-cpe

If I ask google, it points be back to the changelog... what is cpe?
