I have not tried F10 yet but Ive installed on a bunch of x86_64 machines
and there is a lot of fiddling involved with ALSA.
First check (with ALSA) that you can record from mic and playback (with
arecord/aplay). Try recording a .wav file, etc. Ive found that most of
the time the mute options and levels are wrong, try opening
gnome-volume-control and look at capture settings. Also, skype tries to
readjust mic levels in ALSA and this almost never works right, so you
may want to go into skype config and disable that too.
