Can you try adding ASCIIDOC8=YesPlease in the make_git macro, just
above DOCBOOK_XSL_172=YesPlease?

And if that builds, diffing the man pages and/or carefully inspecting
them visually for regressions from their current state would be a good
idea.  You could even tar up the man pages and post them and others
could poke through them a bit to check for problems.
