Promoting i386 version over x86_64?

"Most recent" is over 10 years and actually, the limit is 64 GB.

And Microsoft never had to "figure it out", they've supported PAE in Windows
2000 and XP up to SP1 IIRC, then made a marketing decision to disable it on
desktop systems with XP SP2:
