Here's what I get:

# which java
/opt/fedora-ds/bin/base/jre/bin/java
# java -version
java version "1.4.2"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2)
Classic VM (build 1.4.2, J2RE 1.4.2 IBM build cxia32142sr1a-20050209 (JIT
enabled: jitc))
# ldd startconsole
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0x00275000)
        libresolv.so.2 => /lib/libresolv.so.2 (0x00398000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x0024a000)
        libncurses.so.5 => /usr/lib/libncurses.so.5 (0x054f2000)
        libtermcap.so.2 => /lib/libtermcap.so.2 (0x003b3000)
        libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 (0x007a1000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/libm.so.6 (0x00250000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0x0011e000)
        libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x00df4000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00104000)

All the library files that ldd is looking for are there (as symlinks to
the real files), so as far as I can tell no problem is indicated there.
