o I'd keep usermod in the main package. Reason is that end-users will not really
  know they want it, until they see it, and it doesn't cost much.
o Keep versioned BuildRequires (but I think this should be >= 4.3)
o pre/postun tricks to cure rpm oredring issues is an overkill. We'd have to do 
  that for every package then, and it was meaning something else once. Better to
  attack this in rpm itself.

I'd also like to address compatibilty to the given user base. Dag and ATrpms
users have been using smart for over a year now, and therefore it would seem
appropriate to properly obsolete/provide bits from there to ensure non-breakage
of operation.

(Hey, this would be the first package in cooperative mode :)
