Initial comments, full review after hearing your thoughts on these:

Subpackage naming: how about smart-gtk and smart-tui?  "tui" is used eg. by many
system-config-* packages for their text UI's, and plain "gtk" sounds better than
"uigtk" to me.  Further, what benefit is there in splitting the text UI from the
main package in the first place, does it add some dependencies or...?

How about packaging contrib/ksmarttray?  (%package -n ksmarttray)

Some 3rd party packagers package contrib/smart-update too, would that be useful?
