Best Practice for retagging tags

Hello,

in the last week I have the following problem:

After I have taged a checked in version of a package for
rebuiting, I found out, the I have forgotten to add a new patch
into the cvs reporsitory.

So I want to ask how I should handle this case. Becouse I didn't
found a better solution I have to increase the relase count into
the spec file, so I could genereate a new tag after I have
checked in my changes.

It will be happy for any answer.
