Help with desktop file

I'm working on packaging ksynaptics 0.2.3 and I'm getting the following
error from desktop-file-install:

/export/tmp/rpm/ksynaptics-0.2.3-1-root-orion/usr/share/applications/fedora-ksynaptics.desktop:
error: invalid characters in value of key "Keywords[sr]", keys of type
string may contain ASCII characters except control characters

Now, the desktop file claims to be in UTF-8 but I don't know how to
verify it's correctness.  Help please!
