mock ?'s

I have a problem with a package of mine(*) that builds fine by hand, but 
hangs/crashes when built inside of mock.  My initial problem is I'm 
having trouble finding any sort of build.log; it appears that mock's 
build.log doesn't contain anything until mock is done/finished.  Any 
pointers as to where to look for mock's intermediate build.log?

(*) In particular, maxima when built --with-sbcl
