Problems with tagging

Ok, this worked: I deleted the whole ktorrent directory on my hard disk, made 
a fresh co, increased the release number, commited the change, and tagged. 
The build process was also successful. 
I wonder why this worked - I thought that the job of cvs is to keep the files 
synchronized?!
