Status of any effort to get Scipy into Extras?

it looks like a previous attempt to get scipy into Extras stalled

but Neal still seems to be working on making headway on it as of
09-2006 by getting numpy patched.

Anyone have an update as to where scipy is at right now? If I wanted
to restart the process, do I do a new review ticket or do I re-open
the previous inactive review ticket?
