Bug 384281: acpi-cpufreq reports ENODEV on Q6600

As soon as I unwrapped my brand new Core 2 Quad, I discovered that
acpi-cpufreq seems not able to offer its services :( the point is why
? is there anything (code, debugging, testing) I can do to support it
(or its BIOS) ?
