I'm using NB 6.1, and ruby 1.8.6 (2008-06-20 patchlevel 230) [i386-linux] with gem 0.9.4. The code is the next: ********** require 'rubygems' require 'google-video' require 'pp' # create a client with which to submit requests client = GoogleVideo::Client.new #~ # look up a list of the top 100 videos request = GoogleVideo::TopVideosRequest.new response = client.top_videos request print "Top 5 Videos:\n" response.videos[0...5].each { |video| pp(video) } print "end!!" ************* But I have a problem :(. The sentence "request = GoogleVideo::TopVideosRequest.new" return NIL. I have looked at the documentation and the examples, and it should be return a list of items. any suggestion? thanks! ;) From email.ahmedkamal at googlemail.com Fri Aug 15 18:53:22 2008 From: email.ahmedkamal at googlemail.com (Ahmed Kamal) Date: Fri, 15 Aug 2008 21:53:22 +0300 Subject: HP dv6700se Message-ID: <3da3b5b40808151153w48f4f1acxa01d4cf72043c509@mail.gmail.com> Hi everyone, Any experiences with Linux HP dv6700se ? Should I deliberately > avoid getting this laptop, coz it has a nVidia card ? my experience is that NVidia are not that bad. I'm using a HP G6000, which has an NVidia GeForce 7000M. the free drivers simply don't support it, so I had to use NVidia's drivers. once Fedora9 stabilised a bit, NVidia's driver suddenly just worked (there was a period where the ABI for the new XOrg was in flux, so NVidia's driver was uncertain how to interface with the server). If the card is the only questionable item, then I'd say go for it. check the wifi as well, though - that can be another tricky item to get working... kae From email.ahmedkamal at googlemail.com Fri Aug 15 21:53:52 2008 From: email.ahmedkamal at googlemail.com (Ahmed Kamal) Date: Sat, 16 Aug 2008 00:53:52 +0300 Subject: HP dv6700se In-Reply-To: <48A5F7E1.5030604@verens.com> References: <3da3b5b40808151153w48f4f1acxa01d4cf72043c509@mail.gmail.com> <48A5F7E1.5030604@verens.com> Message-ID: <3da3b5b40808151453lc132568yc9a40040cf2600af@mail.gmail.com> Thanks, according to the specs page (below) wifi is Intel 4965 AGN, I trust I should not face any problems with that http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Display+diagonal&v1=15.4&series_name=dv6700tse_series On Sat, Aug 16, 2008 at 12:40 AM, Kae Verens wrote: > Ahmed Kamal wrote: > >> Hi everyone, >> Any experiences with Linux HP dv6700se ? CPU, network, etc), but I have (I think) a similar notebook. Mine is an HP Pavilion dv6746tx which has an Intel core 2 duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83 GHz, 2GB RAM, NVidia GeForce 8400M GS video card, Intel Pro wireless 3945ABG, Realtek RTL8101E PCI Express ethernet, Broadcom bluetooth, R5C592 sd/sdio/mmc/ms/mspro host adapter, and TSSTcorp lightscribe CDDVDW- TS-L632N burner. Everything works well under Fedora 9 basically "straight out of the box". The webcam, inbuilt microphones and "multifunction keys"work as well. The only thing I have noticed with Fedora 9 is that the total battery time does not appear to work (this may be a setup problem on my side), although on Fedora 8 it worked without any tweaks. If you are worried about the NVidia graphics, you can go one of two ways :- 1. Either add the rpm.livna.org repo and wait for them to update the drivers for your kernel, or 2. download the source code from NVidia and compile it yourself whenever there is a kernel upgrade.(you will need to at least install the kernel headers and a compiler for this to work) Hope this helps. What programs are disappearing? Are they still running afterward? You can find out what they are by checking the right click menus on those icons. Once you know what program it is, change to your tty and back to gnome, then check if it is still running by using ps. I have a Dell Latitude D820 laptop with a nVidia card and work with a resolution of 1680x1050. If I save the images and display them outside Firefox, they all look sharp. This is true for gif, jpg and svg. Why I think that's a Fedora issue? Well, because under Fedora 8, all images were sharp in Firefox. Also, system-config-display does not seem to work. It fails to detect my display or the possible resolutions, and when I select a resolution, it will ask me to restart X, and then happily forget anything I entered. I sometimes felt like asking some one to have a look at the code and confirm that it actually is written to do anything. Thanks! It did not occur to me until now that Firefox did not zoom images before. So it was a Firefox issue after all, which happened to get updated with Fedora.
