Think of it this way, the kernel src.rpm contains the sources to
*build* the kernel, kernel-doc and kernel-source rpms but does not
install the kernel source it *itself* contains in the normal
/usr/src/linux-x.y.z directory structure.

It's source is unpacked into /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES and then untar'd
into /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-x.y.z to be used for creating the
rpms that are then installed into the rpm database.

Clearer?
