I use fedora-legacy's yum updated a redhat 9.0 (kernel 2.4.20-8).
http://www.fedoralegacy.org

I updated most rpms excetp kenerl* mysql*. However, after this update,
I can't get the X display started. During the X window starting up,
the screen is flashing between mode '1024x786' and '720 x 400'.
 After a while, showing an error message 'failed to start the display
server severial times in a shor time peroid'.  If  i login as root in
the text mode and issue a command 'startx', the xwindow started and
login into kde.
as a normal user, issue a command 'startx', get a window terminal,
looks like 'Fvwm'
