Hey AP,
upgrading a kernel can lead to weird things sometimes.

For me, for instance, I've never could upgrade a redhat8/9's kernel
without having issues with cd-recording. Don't ask me why, but kernel
panics on every system I've upgraded and tried to burn a cd.
