Evolution loses it's address book

Has anyone seen the situation where Evolution starts, you can be reading
mail and the address book is there, but when you go to compose a message
the address book magically disappears and sometimes will come back if
you restart Evolution? If it does not, then I have to restart the account, and
sometimes restart the machine to get Evolution to "find" it's address book.

The only other symptom is, every time I start the user account, I get an error
message from Gnome stating that I have too many processes started.

This was an upgrade from RedHat 9.0 with Evolution 1.4.5 (not Ximian Desktop)
overloaded on top of Evolution 1.2.1.
