Mozilla and friends locking up

I'm having many problems with Mozilla locking up on my formerly RH 9 
now Fedora desktop.   It stops responding to input, and stops 
refreshing; you can drag the Mozilla window around and it will "smear".

I've seen it happen with versions 1.2 and higher, up to the latest 1.6 
nightly releases.  Also with Firebird.  I haven't tried it on lower 
than RH 9.

Anyone else seeing this?
