Uname -a shows "Linux cyrebro 2.4.22-1.2135.nptl i686 athlon i386
GNU/Linux".

My kernel was updated through up2date. When it showed that updates were
available I saw the 2135 kernel listed and choose all of the available
updates. I have X up and running, but the glx module still won't load,
so certain programs don't work. I'm still trying to figure out how to
get it working. Thank you for all of your help thus far.

k i htink i figured out something... are you positive u have the 2135
kernel running AND you have the 2135 source installed?
if they both arent the same errors come up during the install. so make
sure you are running the kernel u think you are by typing uname -a and
have the kernel installed.
i just wiped my system and installed a source of a kernel i wasnt
running and got couldnt load glx and make sure the driver in your
xfree86config file says nvidia.. not just the device type,,
