As I recall, xawtv relies on v4l and if so, I think I'll pass on these.
Or maybe I'll try them out after I've had a shot or two of courage...

Maybe it's S.O.P. to ship a compiler that's different than the one that
built the kernel but it sounds strange to me, a layman.
