Hello, Everyone :)
I was attracted to the subject line of this thread: "segmentation
faults galore" With me it works this way: I'll compile a program from
source code: let's say Krusader, Krename or Juk. Everything proceeds as
normal, and the applications in question work perfectly at first. But
then, I don't know yet what it takes, maybe just a reboot, but then the
applications that had run fine maybe a boot ago, now bomb out with only
this error message: segmentation fault.
With the above mentioned applications, I recompiled and reinstalled
them, and they work fine. We'll see what happens after I reboot :)
Also, the above mentioned applications are all KDE related. The
problems that I've seen with GNOME are a lot worse. See my previously
started thread "Graphical Greeter has Crashed, Attempting to use
another" and also check out the bug report I filed:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126606
The Gnome applications that I've seen crash with segmentation faults
so far are: Nautilus, Epiphany, Gthumb, the GDM login greeter, GDM
itself, and last but not least, on each of the above mentioned GNOME
applications, when I clicked the button "Submit a Bug Report", I got a
message that BugBuddy had crashed with a segmentation fault. Kind of
ironic.....
I'll write back after I reboot, if I have any new information.
