If you are running Arjan's 2.6.0-testX kernel RPMS on Athlon laptops,
please try the powernowd package. powernowd detects current system load
and reduces the voltage and multiplier of the processor dynamically with
usage. When CPU usage is higher, it instantly jumps the processor back
to 100% performance.

powernowd makes a 4-8 degree C difference with my 1GHz Athlon laptop,
and it should work great with most other Athlon laptops along with the
2.6 kernel.

Requirements:
Fedora Core 1 or Red Hat 9
kernel-2.6.0-testX
Mobile Athlon
modprobe powernow_k7
modprobe cpufreq_userspace

Please comment in the Bugzilla report above if you have success or
failure.

(Since powernowd uses the cpufreq interface, does it also work with
Intel SpeedStep? I dunno. Please try it and report back.)
