ACPI battery module broken?

There are two modules that work for the battery monitor.

Try running modprobe battery ac

I had to add these two modules to my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file until they 
were added to initscripts

insmod ac
and
insmod battery
should also work.

I take it that you have acpi=on set in your kernel line.
