I don't think that's precisely true.   The target has to present itself 
as an iSCSI device and Consensys/Raidzone has an iSCSI product. (There 
are others; I just happen to know this one.)  It's run on their own 
customed RedHat distribution.  But, to the point, it's an IDE RAID 
device that looks like a SCSI device to the OS.
