      (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/) or cygwin
      (www.cygwin.com) are my favorites.
   3. Learn how to tunnel ports (gives your VNC session security)

Or you could skip #2 and #3 if you're on a secure LAN, and can open a 
port (default 5901 on linux servers) through your Linux boxes firewall.
