HI,
I started my web designing with front page and dumped it after a short
time. It adds so much junk to a page and is annoying to use.
I would say that the program to test against is Dreamweaver/Homesite.
And indeed there aren't many that do it so well.
Quanta has come a long way I must admit, but that said I would recommend
leaning html, if you don't know it already and use one of the text
editors.
There are a number of projects on Linux that are attempting to produce a
Dreamweaver clone, but it is amazing how simple it is to produce
beautiful pages with html and css, without all that gui clutter.
I say that from having relied heavily on Front Page in the past.
What I would recommend if you don't get Quanta to install is to learn
VIM and attach the html file type plugin. Or if you want a really cool
enviroment nxml is amazing.
If you are afraid of such a move but want to give it a try I will be
glad to help you make the move. If you are interested write me off list
and I can give details.
best wishes
Aaron
