Time server...how to set it up on FC1?

That was the part I had read... so your reference to the "new ntpdate" 
confused me. I now see what you mean.

An alternate: set approximately the right time directly using the date 
command and using your wristwatch as a time source (of course my wristwatch 
is within 30 seconds or so of the NTP time on my server). Then, configure 
and run ntpd. <grin>
