Yeah, it was. Coincidently Matthias Saou (Freshrpms.net maintainer)
released today v1.0.4, which I am already using.

... Still, xmms using OSS driver blocks if it runs while gxine is
playing. I guess it only works for you because ALSA does support
hardware mixing for your card.
