I downloaded a sample clip of some hidef WM9 some months ago, and once I had a 
fast enough machine ;-) it played very nicely on mplayer.

Is it possible that the media you have in this MSFT format could possibly -- I 
hesitate to suggest such an idea about a reputable and respected company 
which only has its customers' interests at heart -- be DRM'd up the wazoo?
